The Altamira Vase gets its name from the etchings on the lower half of this vase, which are reminiscent of the ancient cave paintings in Altamira, from artist Mauro Fariñas' home country of Spain.

At the same time, the lilac markings and a dramatic dip in sea-green glaze give this piece a decidedly contemporary look.

This vase is a gorgeous complement for white flowers like baby's breath, anemones, and roses. It's a conversation piece in any room.

Because this item is handmade, small variations in size and details are possible. That's part of the joy of ceramics.

About Bigwind

Mauro Fariñas is the ceramist behind Bigwind. He studied art in Spain and Finland before moving to Berlin. After several years doing ceramics on the side, he joined the Working Artist program at Ceramic Kingdom in 2021, where he currently creates and teaches. Mauro’s ceramics are highly informed by processes, combining tools and techniques. He favors vases, as each work can present a new chance for experimentation while remaining grounded on their functionality.
